Has anyone stayed here? At the time I booked it (a couple of months ago) the reviews were okay, but I noticed they have dropped since. I have not been able to comminicate with them. They do not answer emails, and when I call I get a voicemail saying to send an email! We are arriving on Iceland independence day (we did not know this when we booked). We booked the night before our arrival so we could get our room first thing in the morning. They don't seem to have normal staffing. I am worried I will get there in the morning, and there will be no one there.
I have sent them numerous emails and a letter. Exasperated, I have now booked alternative reservations. While the booking with Apartment K was nonrefundable, I am going to do what I can to get a refund nonetheless, given its failure to meet minimum tourist industry communication standards. Any suggestions for Iceland authorities I can contact would be appreciated.
Well, to my astonishment, Apartment K gave me a refund! Thanks to the feedback I got from folks on this forum, I sent Apartment K a letter threatening to report them to authorities in Iceland. It seems to have done the trick. We stayed in Hotel Hilda, which worked well. And we really liked Iceland and want to go back, pricy though it was.
