Hi guys I hope that you can help me with my itinerary as I'm finding this hard for Iceland despite hours of research. I asked on another forum but people were quite mean that I didn't seem to know everything already.
Myself and a friend are coming from Sunday 2nd April until the 7th. Five full days and 5 nights. I really wanted to drive but people on another forum seems to presume this was a silly idea with the weather yet I see many others are planning the same thing. Our alternative is to stay in Reykjavik and do day trips which will work out very expensive and I really want to go to Jokulsarlon which seems an intense and expensive day trip.
Is driving a reasonable option if we book accommodation that is cancellable if the roads are undrivable.
This is my loose itinerary. I haven't looked at everywhere I want to visit on the way yet I'd just like a skelaton itinerary so I can work out where to book accommodation. What do you guy think? Any advice. Have we missed anywhere?
Sun 2nd arrive 10am blue lagoon after airport then to Reykjavik.
Mon 3rd golden circle either stay in Reykjavik
Tues 4th south coast to Vik ( or should we just go to Vik on the Monday after golden circle and have an extra day in Reykjavik at the end)
Wed 5th Jokulsarlon stay somewhere en route back to Reykjavik (any suggestions or just Vik again?)
Thursday 6th Back to Reykjavik see sites of city.
Friday 7th: early flight back to UK
Any thoughts? Have we missed anything of note. Are there any chances of northern lights on that route?
