Is a campervan or motorhome suitable for March

vvaduva
Hello,

We are planning to visit Iceland in March next year (2015) from around the 17th to 22nd. We are a family of four (our kids are 10 and 7).
I read a bit on the weather and road conditions and I am unsure a campervan or motorhome would be ok to drive in the second half of March.

I am a very good driver, very experienced in winter driving and off road situations. I can say that I enjoy driving in harsh conditions. I also used to own a small motorhome so I know how they work and can judge the limitations.

Any recommendations?
Thank you,
Val

Hello Val,

I would recommend you to hire a small Motorhome or van since it is quite dangerous to drive during winter (March is normally a month with a lot of snow). It is important to get winter tires...

I have seen many accidents with Motorhomes... My grandmother lives close to Borganes and wind + ice are a real enemy of Motorhomes in Iceland.

What would i do?

a) Do not come in March, I would recommend May if you want to have Motorhome + Iceland
b) Book a 4x4 Car

;)

Thats my opinion,
