I want to visit Reykjavik for 5-7 hours before leaving for the Ring Road (in late May) in a motorhome. It seems like I can only park the RV at the official camp ground in Laugardalur. Google says that's about a 50 minute walk away from the main part of the city.
So what's the best way to get from the camp ground to the city? If the answer is the bus, how do I know what bus to get on, etc?
Also, I need to go to the grocery store before I leave for the trip. But I don't want to have to carry groceries for 50 mins (if we walk) or carry it on the bus. Is it possible to drive to the grocery store (I heard budget is a good one?) in Reykjavik, park the RV there, then go to the campground and park?
Or is there a budget (or similar) store that I can park at right outside Reykjavik so that I don't have to try to drive around the city to go to the store?
Thank you! This is advice I can only get from residents or frequent travelers to Iceland, and it's not something that I can just google.
