Shipping Land Rover from UK to Iceland

Nicola Gibbs
Hi, we're a family of 4 looking to travel round Iceland for 2-3 weeks in August. Campervans are pretty expensive so considering taking our own well-equipped 4WD. The ferry via Denmark takes too long but shipping it out in a container doesn't look too extortionate. Just wondering if anyone has experience of doing this and whether it was straightforward? Any advice appreciated. Thanks, Nicola

Hello Nicola,

A friend of mine brought his car to Iceland trough Denmark and he was happy with the price (€1300 back and forward).

I do not know about shopping just the car. But you can ask here: service@eimskip.is

Thanks for your info Berglind, we'll contact that shipping company and see if we can find out more. I know there is a ferry from Denmark to Iceland via the Faroe Islands but for us to get there from the UK will take too long I think (about 5 days). May be easier to just hire a 4x4 campervan! All the best, Nicola

I think that the cheapest way is to rent a camper. Try this company who has good prices and reputation.
